Faro Foundation is proud to announce the publication of a comprehensive digital literacy training manual for children and youth. Developed in partnership with the Communications and Information Technology Authority and Facebook, the newly printed guide contains five chapters and 18 lesson packages. It is now ready for distribution to teachers and students across Mongolia.
Our involvement stems from a broader initiative to provide the public with the knowledge and skills needed for safe social media use. Faro Foundation Mongolia took on the crucial role of translating and localising the international curriculum to ensure it resonates with Mongolian educators and students.
The interactive program targets secondary school students aged 11 to 18. We designed our localised materials to help teenagers secure their personal safety online, develop responsible social media habits, and cultivate positive digital interactions.
Internationally known as the Digital Literacy Library, the original curriculum was developed by researchers at Harvard University's Berkman Klein Center. The educational program has already seen success in more than 60 countries, and we are thrilled to bring it to Mongolian classrooms.
The curriculum aligns with the official UNESCO definition of digital literacy. It focuses on the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to safely and appropriately use digital technology to create, find, evaluate, and share information. We believe this manual will be a vital tool in advancing broader media literacy nationwide.
